What 70% ceramic does
The windshield is the biggest window on the car and faces the sun for most of every drive. A 70% VLT ceramic IR film lets 70% of visible light through, so it looks nearly clear, while rejecting a large share of the infrared energy that heats the dash, the steering wheel and you. Cabin temperature at a stoplight in August is where you notice it.
Florida legality
Florida allows non-reflective tint above the AS-1 line on the windshield. Below it, any film needs a medical exemption. A 70% film is light, but it is still film, so the exemption rule applies. We install the legal strip, or the full windshield with a valid exemption.
What is not worth it
A 70% dyed film. It blocks 30% of visible light and almost no heat. If the goal is comfort, only ceramic makes sense at a light shade.
Cost
Windshield film is quoted with the car; side windows start at $99 each with KAVACA Ultimate IR. Pair it with a windshield protection film on the outside, from $799, if rock chips are the other worry.
