What to look for
- Optical clarity. Zero distortion at night, no haze in the sun. Anything less is a safety problem.
- Impact absorption. Thick enough to take gravel at highway speed without transferring the hit to the glass.
- Wiper-rated topcoat. Wipers run across it thousands of times; the topcoat has to be hydrophobic and abrasion resistant.
- Camera compatibility. Forward cameras and rain sensors look through the glass; the film must not affect them.
- Warranty and installer. Installed in a controlled bay, on a decontaminated windshield, with a written warranty.
What we install
A professional exterior windshield protection film, from $799 installed, cut to the glass, applied in our bay. It blocks 99.9% of UV, is optically clear, and is designed for wiper use.
DIY kits
The film is fine in the box and impossible to install flat on a curved windshield in a driveway. Dust, distortion and lifted edges are the usual result.
