Negatives of the product
- Price. Partial Front from $899 to Full Body from $4,990. It pays for itself against one respray, but it is money now.
- Lifespan. 10 years warrantied on Ceramic Pro Urban, lifetime on Ceramic Pro PPF. Not forever, and eventually it is removed and replaced.
- It is not a bumper. A collision goes through anything. Short of that, carts, keys and door dings mark the film and the film is replaced; the paint underneath stays untouched. We have a customer video of a full front bumper saved exactly that way.
Negatives of the installer, which you can avoid
- Visible edges and seams. Avoided by wrapping edges and removing badges and trim instead of cutting around them.
- Dust and hair under the film. Avoided by a closed, climate-controlled bay. Ours is.
- Stretch marks and lifted corners. Avoided by not overstretching to hide a seam and by relief cuts where the panel needs them.
- Yellowing. Avoided by using film with a UV-stable topcoat and a written warranty. Cheap PVC "PPF" yellows in one Florida summer.
What to ask any shop
Which film, by name. Whether edges are wrapped. Where the car is installed. Who backs the warranty. If any answer is vague, the negatives above become yours.
